New Year’s Safety Tips

New Year’s is just around the corner, which means it is time to decide how you will be ringing in 2015. While you are out celebrating the holiday, it is important to make sure that you know how to stay safe. Keep these New Year’s safety tips in mind to ensure that you safely welcome in the New Year.

  • Drinking – most New Year’s events include alcohol. If you are planning on drinking during the festivities, make sure that you use common sense. Never put your drink down and do not accept open drinks from strangers. If you are planning on popping champagne bottles to ring in the New Year, make sure to point the cork away from everyone to ensure that nobody gets injured.
  • Driving – never drink and drive. Even if you only have a couple of drinks during the party, you still may not be able to get home safely. Make sure to have a designated driver that does not drink at all or take a taxi home.
  • Public events – there are many fun and festive public events that go on during New Year’s. If you are planning on enjoying a public event, always be aware of your surroundings. Do not go to any public events by yourself and bring your phone in case you get separated.
  • Pet safety – many people celebrate the New Year with fireworks, which can scare pets. Make sure that your furry friends are locked in your house or in your backyard so that they do not run away.
